Portsmouth Football Club
The SEEMG were hosted on 26 November by Portsmouth Football club.The tour was very informative and full of interesting facts and figures which only enhanced the tour and the history of this unique and special football club. We were given the full inside run of the stadium including the executive suite, directors rooms, trophy rooms as well as the dressing rooms.All in all this was well received by the group and the tour guides should be applauded for their knowledge and dry humour.
Horizon Leisure Waterlooville
SEEMG visited Horizon Leisure Centre on 31st October 2024. The centre is a modern state of the art facility with award winning naturally lit and air-conditioned levels. All lighting is modern energy saving LED and the machines are battery powered. Craig the centre manager explained all the measures they take to save energy including the current installation of solar panels to further enhance the green footprint.
Matthew Feldwick, Vice Chairman of the Twyford Waterworks
Matthew Feldwick, Vice Chairman of the Twyford Waterworks Trust hosted the SEEMG 26th September 2024 meeting at the historic pumping station. We had a presentation and tour of the impressive site and heard about all the things the trust are doing with the historic pumping station, as well as the environmental initiatives taking place on the unspoilt land around the pumping station. It was surprising to learn how efficient the old coal fed boilers were, it puts modern day systems to shame.
Nev and Andrew from Baxi Solutions
NNev and Andrew from Baxi Solutions, delivered a first class presentation on total heating solutions for the SEEMG 30th May 2024 presentation.The methods for heating businesses and homes are changing. The use of air source heat pumps and hydrogen fuel ready combination boilers are getting us ready for the future with less reliance on natural gas. Baxi provide a range of comprehensive and flexible systems that will offer a bespoke solution to efficiently heat new or old buildings.
Jerry Clarke - Portsmouth International Port
Jerry Clarke hosted the meeting on 29th February 2024 at Portsmouth International Port to discuss the initiatives they have taken to reach net carbon zero. This included what they have done to monitor the air for pollution and the measures they have taken to reduce their overall carbon footprint of the Port.
RJS WASTE 25 Jan 24
For January's meeting The SEEMG hosted RJS Waste at HMS Excellent. Russell, Tony and John presented a very informative presentation about different Waste streams, their services and how their business is developing. RJS has developed well and is expanding now with room for more growth in the future. 2EA - Legislation and budget briefing
A big thank you to Andrew Gardner from 2EA, for a very worthwhile presentation and conference which was delivered at HMS Collingwood on the 23 November.Andrew covered: Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS); Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD); Streamlined Energy Carbon Reporting (SECR); and Carbon Reduction Plans.He also, outlined the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement 2023 briefing notes to advise on the most salient points with details of those policies relating to energy management.
ENIGMA Electronic Water Descaler and fluid Conditioning services
The SEEMG hosted Mike Smyth and John Thompson (26th Oct 2023) at HMS Excellent to present the innovative technology of fluid treatment and conditioning ,using Micro/Nano bubbles to effectively treat and clean fouled areas either on surfaces or in pipework’s without the use of chemicals. This technique removes and maintains clean surfaces and pipework’s from sludge and limescale permanently.The presentation was well received and culminated with lunch in the revered Excellent wardroom.
BAE Systems Energy Services - Portsmouth Naval Base
The SEEMG were hosted by Stuart and the BAE Systems energy services team today (28th Sep 2023)at Portsmouth Naval Base to present the energy initiatives they have promoted within the site, and to discuss some of the exciting ideas they have going forward. It was particularly encouraging to learn about the outside “Green Space” areas, that enhances the working environment. Taking meetings or lunch breaks outdoors is always good to de-stress in the workplace.
Screwball 2023
Three members of the SEEMG decided it would be a great idea to drive 3200 kms through Europe in an 18yr old Ford Fiesta. Fortunately, we were sponsored by members of the group as well as JRC Facilities. Ecomotus, loaned us a hydrogen fuel additive system. It proved very successful and gave us a 27% increase in mpg for the car and saved us over 100 Euros in fuel over 5 days.
2023 AGM - HMS Excellent
Brilliant to have nearly a full turn out for the AGM at HMS Excellent on the 29th June 2023.We were very privileged to be shown the Royal funeral carriage followed by a tour of the Well's museum showing the history of Whale Island.

Mark Major and Piers Lowbridge - Gemma Lighting
The SEEMG hosted Mark and Piers from Gemma Lighting today (27th Apr 2023) at HMS Excellent to present their range of LED lighting solutions. The technology has advanced a lot over the last few years resulting in extend running hours, lower running costs and solutions specifically designed to prevent light pollution and support dark skies in the UK. SEEMG at the Shaping Portsmouth 2023 conference
We attended the "Shaping Portsmouth," conference today, which was most impressive. The drive to achieve sustainable collaborations through innovative programmes intends to make Portsmouth Britain’s premier waterfront city in the UK. It was impressive to see! Over 200 volunteers manage 3 areas of innovation; Business, Education & Community. The event makes you feel proud to live in our city. There are some amazing individuals working hard to improve our lives.
Lisa Tidswell and Daniel Kirk - Caldera
The SEEMG hosted Lisa and Daniel from Caldera today (26th Jan 2023) at HMS Collingwood to present their heat storage solution. This technology takes cheap, green, off peak or on-site electricity and stores this as heat in solid core vacuum insulated heat cells, ready to be used when required. Andrew Hall – Fischer - 3rd Nov 2022
Andrew visited the SEEMG at HMS Collingwood today to present the use Fischer products in both commercial and residential settings. The discussion on the replacement of gas boilers is all the more relevant due to the demise of gas boiler installation in new build houses from 2025 and the phase out of all gas appliances by 2035. The carbon net zero target for 2050 is becoming increasingly more difficult to achieve. The Fischer products are all part of the solution in steering away from gas.
Kirstyn and Jason Munro - Ecomotus
The SEEMG were pleased to host Kirstyn and Jason from Ecomotus today (29th Sept 2022) to listen to their thought-provoking presentation on the use of hydrogen electrolysers to reduce emissions and provide up to 20% fuel savings, not to mention the savings from less regular engine overhauls. Barfoot Energy Ltd hosted a site visit to the Sefter Farm anaerobic digester at Pagham in February.
